Monster Mash Crochet Project
How This Project Works
Join our brand new crochet exchange project! Each member creates one special part for five fellow makers. Put them all together with your own head for a one-of-a-kind surprise monster friend!
Step 1 – Start Crocheting!
Crochet your monster head and all the parts assigned for each maker as well!
Step 2 – Ship off Monster Parts
Carefully pack up each part and ship all the separate parts to your fellow makers.
Step 3 – Collect & Assemble
Once you have received all your monsters parts from your group, sew them all together to create a unique monster friend!
Step 4 – Show Them Off!
Take pictures, share them with the group, we can’t wait to see what cute magical monsters are created!
Monster Mash is a collaborative crochet project where six makers work together to create one completely unique amigurumi monster.
Instead of making an entire plush yourself, each participant contributes one type of body part for every member of their group. When all of the pieces arrive, they’ll be assembled into a one-of-a-kind monster that couldn’t exist without everyone’s creativity.
No two monsters will ever be the same!

Details for Monster Mash!
Each group consists of 6 participants.
Every participant creates their own monster head before the project begins.
Once heads are complete, each participant’s remaining categories are randomly assigned to the other members of the group. Assignments are completed randomly to keep every project exciting. Each participant will receive one assigned part for each of the other five monsters in their group.
For example, your assignments might look like:
- Sarah’s Body
- Jessica’s Arms
- Emily’s Legs
- Megan’s Ears
- Taylore’s Accessories
You’ll create five different pieces—one for each teammate—but no two pieces will necessarily be the same.
Instead, you’ll use each owner’s About My Monster page to match:
- Yarn weight
- Hook size
- Colors
- Measurements
- Overall style
- Design preferences
This means every Monster Mash is a true community creation, with each monster representing the creativity of the entire group.
Choosing Your Head
You are responsible for creating your own monster’s head.
When selecting your pattern, please choose one that:
- Can reasonably be matched by other participants.
- Has adjustable sizing or includes finished dimensions.
- Clearly lists the recommended yarn weight and hook size.
Once your head is complete, you’ll upload photos and complete your About My Monster page so your teammates can design pieces that match your vision.

🧠 Head Deadline
By this date you should have:
- Finished your head
- Uploaded photos
- Completed your About My Monster page
- Shared measurements, colors, and design preferences
This gives your teammates everything they need before they begin creating pieces.
