How Projects Work
Most Projects follow the same steps
Joining a Traveling Arts Project swap is simple: Each group member adds their own creativity along the way, so by the end you have something completely unique and filled with memories from the entire group.
Step 1 — Start Your Project
Choose your project theme and create your beginning pages/spread/Stitches. This is your foundation and sets the vibe for the journey ahead.
Step 2 — Package & Ship
Carefully package your project and send it to the next person in your group when it’s your shipping turn. We’ll provide schedules, tracking help, and group chats to keep everything moving smoothly.
Step 3 — Create Along the Way
As projects arrive, you’ll add your own pages, art, stitching, prompts, ephemera, memories, or creative touches before sending them on to the next stop in their journey.
Step 4 — Receive Your Finished Project
At the end of the round, your completed project returns home — now filled with contributions from your entire group. Keep it, treasure it, flip through it a hundred times, and of course… share photos with us because we LOVE seeing the finished projects come together!

Why We’ve Switched to a Donation-Based Community
At Traveling Arts Project (TAPs), our goal has always been simple: bring people together through creativity!
Whether you’re joining a traveling journal, a collaborative crochet project, a book exchange, or one of our future creative adventures, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to participate—regardless of their budget.
Instead of requiring a subscription, we’ve chosen to operate on a donation-based model while we continue growing our community.
Where do my donations go?
Behind every TAPs project is a surprising amount of work
Each round involves planning themes, organizing groups, communicating with participants, maintaining our website, tracking shipments, troubleshooting issues, creating resources, coordinating social media, answering questions, designing future projects, and making sure every participant has a smooth, enjoyable experience!
Your donations help support all of that behind-the-scenes work while allowing us to keep participation as affordable and accessible as possible.
Most importantly, they help us continue creating a welcoming space where friendships can grow through shared creativity.
Our projects are built around community—not competition.
You are always welcome to participate whether you donate or not.
However, because donations directly support TAPs, they will receive priority when project spots are limited. Think of it as our way of saying thank you to the people helping keep this creative community growing.
